Bibimbap Cake


Bibimbap is one of my favorite Korean dishes. You mix rice, meat, vegetables and a hot pepper paste to get a yummy concoction. It’s stick-to-your ribs good, and its appropriate for all seasons. In the town I lived in (Jeonju-si) they had a bibimbap festival every year. I get homesick for it sometimes. It was such a beautiful place!

This version of the traditional Korean dish is of course made with cake and icing and it was a total hit with my Korean students.


When I made this in Korea I didn’t have access to silver icing sprays or luster dust, but if I ever make this cake again I’ll see if I can replicate the metal bowls they like to use a bit better.
